An autorickshaw collided head-on with a dump truck in Pekua Upazila, Cox’s Bazar, killing five people and injuring another.
Around 8:15 a.m., Inspector Durjoy Biswas of the Pekua Police Station reported that the accident happened in Hajibazar Botgachtala, Taitong Union.
The deceased are Monirul Mannan, 22, from the Dhaniakata neighborhood of Taitong; Abdur Rahman, 35, from the Notun Ghona of Ujtantia Union; Firoz, 49, from Chattogram’s Hathazari Upazila; and Shaheen Akter, 29, from Cumilla’s Laksham Upazila, along with her six-month-old infant.
Durjoy stated that the autorickshaw was traveling to Pekua Sadar, citing locals. The collision with a dump truck traveling in the opposite direction severely damaged it. The infant was one of the two injured individuals, and four people died instantly.
Locals rescued the injured and transported them to the Pekua Upazila Health Complex. The infant died after arriving at Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
The injured man is receiving treatment at the Pekua Upazila Health Complex.
According to Durjoy, the injured victim’s identity is still unknown. The medical facility has stored the deceased’s remains.
According to the inspector, police arrived on the scene after the accident and towed away the two cars.
