Russia’s state news agency, RIA, said Tuesday that a Russian court had sentenced US citizen Eugene Spector to 15 years in prison for espionage.
Spector, who was born in Russia before moving to the United States, faced espionage charges last August. Spector is currently serving a 3-1/2-year sentence for bribery in Russia.
He was chairman of the board of Medpolymerprom Group, a company that specializes in cancer-curing medications, prior to his arrest in 2021, according to state media.
Spector entered a guilty plea to aiding in the bribery of an assistant to a former deputy prime minister of Russia in his first court case.
