On Tuesday, President Joe Biden signed 50 bills into law, including one that would prevent members of Congress from receiving their pensions if they are found guilty of crimes and another that would make the bald eagle the nation’s official bird.
In order to address the violence and fatalities that take place on college campuses across the nation, Biden also created the first federal anti-hazing standard. Additionally, he signed a bill that holds treatment centers and care facilities that serve young people accountable, which was backed by reality TV star and heiress Paris Hilton.
Earlier this month, Biden issued a complete and unconditional pardon for his son Hunter, commuted the sentences of 37 out of 40 federal inmates on death row to life in prison without the possibility of parole, and vetoed legislation that would have added 66 new judges to the nation’s understaffed federal courts.
Biden is actively pursuing his final priorities before handing over power to President-elect Donald Trump on January 20.
As he concludes his term in office, he is also releasing funds that Congress had previously authorized for domestic infrastructure projects and Ukraine’s armaments.
