Fayez Murder in Lakshmipur: Hasina Among 41 Charged at ICT

A complaint has been lodged against 41 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her ex-security advisor Tarique Ahmed Siddique, at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) over the murder of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Fayez Ahmed in Lakshmipur.

The victim’s son, Hasanul Banna, filed the complaint on Thursday at the tribunal’s Chief Prosecutor’s Office, according to prosecutor BM Sultan Mahmud.

Fayez, a Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer, was reportedly shot and killed by individuals disguised as Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel at his home in the Uttar Temuhoni area of Lakshmipur on the night of December 23, 2013.

Following the shooting, he was allegedly thrown from the rooftop of his house.

Family members claimed the attackers entered the residence, posing as RAB members, and killed Fayez by shooting him and then pushing him off the roof.

On December 13, 2013, shortly after the incident, relatives of the Jamaat leader told reporters at the hospital that the attackers broke into Fayez’s house in the city’s Uttar Bazar area around 12:15 am. They dragged him to the roof, shot him in the head and legs, and then threw him off. The perpetrators later transported the body to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital.

Dr. Joynal Abedin, who was on duty at Sadar Hospital at the time, stated that a car arrived around 1:40 am, leaving the body at the hospital. He confirmed that the deceased had sustained injuries to the head and right leg.

However, Lokman Hossain, the then-inspector (investigation) of Sadar Police Station, said he was unable to confirm the exact cause of Fayez’s death.
