‘FSDS’ launched for research on good governance

A new think tank, the “Foundation for Strategic and Development Studies” (FSDS), has been established to conduct research on good governance, national security, development, and policy-making in the country.

The foundation’s chairman, retired Major General Fazle Elahi Akbar, outlined the organisation’s goals and objectives during its inaugural ceremony, held on Sunday night at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in Dhaka.

The event was attended by prominent figures, including Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, and Navy Chief Admiral M Nazmul Hassan. Former army chiefs Abu Belal Mohammad Shafiul Huq and Lt Gen M Nuruuddin Khan were also present.

Among the notable guests were BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, economist Professor Mahbub Ullah, political analyst Dilara Choudhury, law professor Borhan Uddin Khan, and Jahangirnagar University Vice-Chancellor Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan.

Leaders from academia and media also participated, including Open University Vice-Chancellor Prof ABM Obaidul Islam, Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman, The Daily Star Editor Mahfuz Anam, Manab Zamin Editor Matiur Rahman Chowdhury, Dainik Desh Rupantor Editor Kamal Uddin Sabuj, and Ekushey Television Chairman Abdus Salam.

Additionally, several BNP Standing Committee members—Abdul Moin Khan, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Hafizuddin Ahmed—attended the ceremony.
