Consumers will now spend less on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as the price of a 12kg cylinder, commonly used for cooking, has been reduced by Tk 28, bringing it down to Tk 1,450.
Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) Chairman Jalal Ahmed announced the revised pricing on Monday, with the new rates set to take effect from 6 pm the same day.
For March, the price of autogas at the consumer level has also been reduced to Tk 66.43 per litre, marking a Tk 1.31 decrease from the previous month.
On February 2, the price of a 12kg LPG cylinder was previously raised by Tk 19, setting it at Tk 1,478, while the retail price of autogas was fixed at Tk 67.74 per litre.
In December, LPG prices remained unchanged. Although January initially saw no price changes, an increase was later implemented due to adjustments in VAT.
