Students from various educational institutions in Rajshahi blocked the Rajshahi-Dhaka highway today (10 March), demanding the harshest punishment for rapists.
The blockade began around 11:15 am in the Talaimari area of the city, causing severe traffic congestion on both sides of the road.
During the protest, the students raised slogans condemning rapists and the increasing instances of sexual violence against women in the country.
The protesters expressed their concerns over the ongoing violence and oppression faced by women across the nation.
They called on the interim government to take responsibility and ensure the swift implementation of the death penalty for rapists.
Farhin Shabnam Sayanti, a student, said, “Rapists must be publicly executed. It’s not just about Achhiya [the 8-year-old girl from Magura] – justice must be served for Tanu, Khadija, and all other victims.”
