Garment workers have ended their road blockade in Dhaka’s Banani several hours after a female colleague was killed in a road accident in the area.
The protesters cleared the road around 1:50pm on Monday.
At approximately 2pm, Traffic Gulshan Division Deputy Commissioner Mofizul Islam stated, “The garment workers lifted their blockade around 1:50pm. Traffic is now flowing along all routes.”
A garment worker lost her life, and another was injured in an accident near the Chairman Bari U-Turn in Banani at 6am.
Following the incident, her colleagues blocked Airport Road and halted movement on the Dhaka Elevated Expressway in protest. The blockade led to severe traffic congestion on nearby roads, creating hardships for commuters in the capital.
