Three passengers, including a father and daughter, were killed when their three-wheeler was struck by an ambulance in Jhikargacha Upazila of Jashore. Two others were injured in the collision.
The accident took place around 7 a.m. on Wednesday on the Jashore-Benapole Highway near the Nabibnar Molla Filling Station, as reported by Rokonuzzaman Ripon, the chief of Navaron Highway Police Station.
The deceased were identified as 32-year-old Hasan Iqbal, his 11-year-old daughter Ratna Khatun, and 50-year-old Nazma Begum, all residents of Godkhali Union in Jhikargacha Upazila.
Hasan’s wife, Halima Khatun, 30, and the three-wheeler driver, Bablu Mia, 35, were injured in the crash.
“The three-wheeler was heading towards Sharsha when the ambulance, coming from the opposite direction, collided with it head-on,” said OC Rokonuzzaman. “The injured were quickly rescued and taken to Jhikargacha Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor declared three people dead.”
The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families upon request, and the injured were transferred to Jashore Hospital as their condition remained critical, the police official added.
