Saudi Aramco Discovers 14 New Oil and Gas Fields Across Kingdom

Saudi Aramco has announced a series of significant oil and gas discoveries in the Eastern Province and the Empty Quarter, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s position as a leading global energy powerhouse.

Revealed by Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman on Wednesday, the discoveries include six oil fields, two oil reservoirs, two natural gas fields, and four natural gas reservoirs—underscoring the Kingdom’s vast hydrocarbon potential.

In the Eastern Province, the Jabu oil field was identified after very light Arab crude oil flowed at 800 barrels per day from well Jabu-1. The Sayahid field also showed promise, with well Sayahid-2 producing 630 bpd of very light crude. Meanwhile, well Ayfan-2 in the Ayfan field delivered 2,840 bpd of very light crude along with 0.44 million standard cubic feet of gas daily.

Further drilling confirmed the presence of light crude in the Jubaila reservoir of the Berri field, where well Berri-907 produced 520 bpd, accompanied by 0.2 MMscf of gas per day. The Unayzah-A reservoir in the Mazalij field yielded 1,011 bpd of premium light crude and 0.92 MMscf of gas from well Mazalij-64.

In the Empty Quarter, the Nuwayr field produced medium Arabian crude at a rate of 1,800 bpd from well Nuwayr-1, alongside 0.55 MMscf of gas per day. The Damdah field revealed two reservoirs: the Mishrif-C reservoir yielded 200 bpd of medium crude, while the Mishrif-D reservoir produced 115 bpd of very light crude. Additionally, well Qurqas-1 in the Qurqas field delivered 210 bpd of medium crude.

Natural gas discoveries were also significant, particularly in the Eastern Province. The Ghizlan field’s Unayzah B/C reservoir, via well Ghizlan-1, yielded 32 MMscf of gas per day along with 2,525 barrels of condensate. Meanwhile, well Araam-1 in the Araam field produced 24 MMscf of gas daily and 3,000 barrels of condensate. In the Mihwaz field, unconventional gas was found in the Qusaiba reservoir, where well Mihwaz-193101 delivered 3.5 MMscf of gas per day and 485 barrels of condensate.

In the Empty Quarter, the Marzouq field recorded significant gas flows, with 9.5 MMscf per day from the Arab-C reservoir and 10 MMscf from the Arab-D reservoir. Additionally, the Upper Jubaila reservoir yielded 1.5 MMscf of gas daily from the same well.

Prince Abdulaziz highlighted the strategic importance of these discoveries, emphasizing their role in reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s leadership in the global energy sector while enhancing hydrocarbon reserves.

These findings are expected to drive economic growth, strengthen the Kingdom’s ability to meet both local and international energy demands, and contribute to Saudi Arabia’s long-term sustainability goals. The discoveries align with Vision 2030 objectives, which focus on maximizing resource value and ensuring global energy security.
