At least four people have lost their lives after a four-storey building collapsed in Delhi, India.
According to NDTV, fourteen individuals have been rescued so far following the incident, which took place early Saturday morning in the Mustafabad area of the capital.
Authorities fear that several more people could still be trapped under the rubble of the collapsed structure.
Senior Delhi Police officer Sandeep Lamba said that rescue operations began shortly after emergency teams received information about the collapse around 3am local time. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Delhi Fire Service, and local police quickly reached the site.
“Fourteen people have been rescued, and four have died. About 8-10 people are still feared trapped,” Lamba told the Indian news agency ANI.
Those injured were taken to GTB Hospital for medical care.
Lamba added that an investigation is currently underway to find out the reason behind the collapse.
The tragedy comes after Delhi experienced heavy rainfall, strong winds, and storms on Friday.
Just last week, one person died and two others were injured when a wall of an under-construction building collapsed during a powerful dust storm in the Madhu Vihar area.
