The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has formally requested the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to provide 26 crucial documents within seven working days, according to a letter sent on Monday.
ACC officials visited the BCB headquarters again yesterday, seeking records related to alleged corruption during the tenure of former BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon. Among the documents requested are files on the hiring of consultants for the Purbachal Stadium project, audit reports from Nazmul’s time in office, revenue records from ICC and Asian Cricket Council profit-sharing, and the financials of the Bangladesh Premier League.
Additionally, the ACC asked for documentation on the expenses and procedures involved in recruiting foreign coaches. The investigation will also examine the spending on the ‘Cricket Celebrates Mujib-100’ initiative and the organization of the AR Rahman concert that took place under Nazmul’s leadership.
Records of helicopter usage by Nazmul to attend matches have also been sought. Furthermore, the ACC has requested a list of BCB-funded foreign travelers and details of any internal corruption inquiries conducted during Nazmul’s presidency.
