Metropolis Report-
After a crude bomb explosion at an Awami League office in Raiganj Upazila last night, at least 170 BNP activists and two party leaders were sued. The complaint was made to the Raiganj Police Station by Juel Akand of the Raiganj Municipality AL unit.
The convener of the Raiganj BNP municipality unit, Ainul Haque, the unit’s secretary, Khairul Islam, and 20 named and 150 unnamed BNP men were defendants in the case, police said.
Two AL members were hurt last night around 7:00 p.m. when the accused allegedly detonated homemade bombs at the party office in the Dhangora junction of the Upazila. Four unexploded homemade bombs were later found on the scene by police. After the event, the accused went into hiding, according to police.
On the other hand, the BNP asserted that the incident was unrelated to its activists and that the case was intended to harass the party leaders.
