Metropolis report-
People from all walks of life remembered the great children of the nation with profound respect and love at the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in Mirpur. December 14 is a day of heartache for the nation. In 1971, right before the victory in the great liberation war, the intellectuals of the country were brutally murdered on this day.
The nation celebrates Martyred Intellectuals Day on December 14 every year to commemorate the best children of our soil.
On Wednesday (December 14) morning, people from all walks of life started gathering at the memorial to pay their respects. They lined up to lay wreaths at the monument of the martyred intellectuals.
On behalf of the ordinary people of the capital and surrounding areas, teachers and students of various educational institutions paid tribute to the martyred intellectuals.
Most people who came to pay their respects to the martyrs wore black as a symbol of mourning—holding small placards, festoons, and bouquets.
