Three passengers and the driver of a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw were killed in Palashbari, Gaibandha. The accident occurred in the Dakghar-Mazhipara area on Gaibandha-Palashbari road around 7:30 am on Thursday.
The deceased are Shamim Mia (30), son of Abdus Salam Mia of Tulsighat Durgapur village, Gaibandha Sadar upazila, Shimu Sarkar (24), daughter of Kalam Sarkar of Panchbibi, Joypurhat, Shakil Mia (35) and autorickshaw driver Nurul Islam (45) of Bhatpara Gopalpur village of Ramchandrapur union, Gaibandha Sadar Upazila.
Police and eyewitnesses said that in the morning, a CNG-powered autorickshaw was going to Palashbari from Gaibandha. On reaching the Dakghar-Mazhipara area, a Shanekhoda Paribahan bus heading from Dhaka to Gaibandha hit the autorickshaw and ran away.
Four people, including the autorickshaw driver, were killed on the spot.
