A landslide occurred at a campsite in Malaysia’s Selangor state. At least 16 people were killed in the landslide, and many others are missing, government officials said.

More than 90 people camped at a roadside farm. Malaysia’s National Disaster Management Authority said they have rescued 53 people so far.

But dozens more are missing. Government authorities continue to rescue people who may be buried in the mud.

The BBC reports that rescuers are working to find missing people after a landslide hit a campsite near the Malaysian capital early Friday morning.

The Fire and Rescue Department said in a statement that people camping on the roadside in Selangor state on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur were hit by a landslide around 3 pm on Thursday.

Selangor State Fire and Rescue Department said the landslide occurred from a height of approximately 30 meters. Its extent was about one acre in the area.
