Md Ashikur Rahman Talukder Nibir –
OBE Cell, Department of Civil Engineering, BUET hosted a seminar titled “Scholarships for Post-graduate Higher Studies – The Other Side of the Story” on 18th December 2022 in the Seminar Room of Dr. Jamilur Reza Chowdhury Civil Engineering Building, BUET. Dr. Mahmud Ashraf joined the session as the speaker, who is currently serving as a Professor of Structural Engineering and the Associate Head of School (Research) at the School of Engineering at Deakin University, Australia.
During the session, some questions were asked and the audience’s responses were shown through some graphs. Then the speaker discussed the topic in brief and the pros and cons. He said that current students are very much up to date in comparison with their time almost 20 years ago and it is a very positive sign.
Before applying one should go through a particular professor’s profile; his field of interest and his ongoing projects. Normally he would quickly hire anyone if any student’s CV shows much inclination. So before applying everyone should give priority to the CV.
“As many people were asked to share the main idea of the seminar, I can
briefly summarize that it was an effective as well as an interactive session where
the total journey toward higher studies abroad was discussed, and the pros
and cons of the journey. The honorable speaker also included what issues should
be emphasized more during this journey”, told by the host of the event Dr. Sheikh Mokhlesur Rahman, an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at BUET.
