The 6th Non-Fiction Book Fair is going on Dhaka University’s business faculty premises. It started on 26th December and will continue till today. In collaboration with the Business Faculty of the University of Dhaka, Banik Barta has arranged this book fair. This fair is arranged annually, however this time it is happening after a hiatus of 3 years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 40 publishers are participating this year with their stalls.
Mahmudul Hasan, a representative of Mawla said, “The enthusiasm of the book fair is great in spite of the increasing price of the paper”.
Khorshed Alam Ashik, a representative of Rokomari said, “People nowadays like to order books on the online platform. They visit the book fair but love to order it online afterward”.
Book lovers of different ages and different tastes gather at the book fair. Nazia Quadery, 1st batch student of executive MBA in Management Information System at the University of Dhaka said, “These types of book fairs are much needed. It widens the horizon of the readers. This fair is only related to non-fiction books, it would be more engaging if more genres are added”.
Another student from the same department and batch Rifat Tamnnna Racy said, “The experience of the book fair is amazing. The time of the fair may be rescheduled in the future because at this time many students are attending their exams. Rescheduling can engage more students”.
Some exciting offers are seen in the fair for book lovers such as a raffle draw, photo contest, gift voucher, discount, etc.
