Russell Domingo resigned as the head coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team. The South African coach announced his resignation from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Cricket Operations Chairman Jalal Yunus confirmed the matter on Wednesday (December 28) morning.
Domingo went to South Africa on Christmas vacation immediately after the end of the Mirpur Test on Sunday. He announced his resignation from there on Tuesday.
Rumors about Domingo’s job have spread since the loss in the last Test of the series against India. Jalal Yunus said on the same day that there would be changes in the coaching panel. By Wednesday morning, it was known that Domingo had stepped aside.
Domingo’s relationship with BCB was not going well since the last Asia Cup. India’s Sridharan Sriram was appointed coach by BCB as his replacement in T20. As part of this, Domingo was not seen in the Bangladesh team in the T20 World Cup.
