Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the much-desired metro rail. Through this, Bangladesh entered the Metrorail era. On Wednesday (December 28) at 11:05 am, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the metro rail by unveiling a plaque at the C-1 Block playground of Uttara Sector 15.
Earlier, the Prime Minister reached Diabari around 11 am to inaugurate the metro rail. At that time, Minister of Road Transport and Bridges and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and Prime Minister’s younger sister Sheikh Rehana were present.
Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Iwama Kiminori and JICA Bangladesh Office Chief Representative Ichiguchi Tamohide will speak at the opening ceremony. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will unveil commemorative postage stamps, first-day covers, and commemorative notes at the event.
As part of the event, the Prime Minister will visit the main plaque of Uttara North Metrorail station and plant saplings next to the main plaque. The Prime Minister will purchase the MRT pass using the Ticket Office Machine (TOM) and arrive at the Agargaon-bound platform from the concourse level.
She will wave the green flag to inaugurate the official journey of the country’s first metro rail and come to Agargaon on the next train. About 200 guests will be with him.
