The country’s first cadaveric kidney transplant has been successfully completed by medical professionals in Bangladesh (the process of transplanting kidneys from brain-dead medical patients).
The organ donor was a patient named Sarah, 20. Two female patients in their 30s were the kidney recipients. According to reports, they are doing well after the operation.
The two kidney transplant operations took place at the National Kidney Foundation and the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMU) separately.
The initiative was headed by Professor Habibur Rahman Dulal of the Department of Urology at BSMMU.
