The charge framing hearing in 11 cases against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been scheduled by a Dhaka court for May 15.
Additional Public Prosecutor Tapash Kumar Pal told the media that Judge Md Asaduzzaman of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court, located inside the Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj, today deferred the hearing and scheduled a new date.
The adjournment followed the submission of various defense petitions with various justifications. Ten of the eleven cases involved arson attacks and were brought in the first three months of 2015.
The other case was brought before a Dhaka court on charges of uttering seditious remarks about martyrs of the Liberation War and independence fighters.
Following a government executive decree, Khaleda Zia was released from prison but is currently ill and residing at her Gulshan home.
