Metropolis Report-
The High Court censured 21 Brahmanbaria lawyers today for impeding legal proceedings on January 5 and 8 by using abusive words at a district judge.
“The language you used to criticize the district judge is extremely offensive. The legal profession as a whole ought to be ashamed of your behavior. We feel ashamed,” stated the High Court bench consisting of Justices JBM Hassan and Razik-Al-Jalil.
The HC bench also issued a warning, stating that due to the 21 lawyers’ inappropriate behavior, this court could order the cancellation of their licenses.
The bench made this statement after the 21 attorneys showed up in response to its summons from January 10. Later, the court mandated that they return to appear before it on February 19 to clarify their positions.
The court issued a rule on January 10 requesting the attorneys to provide justifications for why contempt of court proceedings shouldn’t be started against them due to their wrongdoing.
