Following a meeting of election commissioners at his EC office in the capital today, Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal announced the schedule of the Presidential election.
The nomination will be submitted on February 12, according to the CEC.
He stated that the nomination papers will be scrutinized on February 13 and that the withdrawal date will be on February 14.
President Abdul Hamid took the oath of office on April 24, 2018, beginning his second consecutive term as president, which will end on April 24 this year.
The presidential election must take place 90 to 60 days prior to the five-year term’s expiration, as required by Article 123 of the constitution.
Additionally, since Hamid was elected for two terms, he is not eligible to serve as president again under the constitution.
