From February 1, the refiners will increase sugar’s price by Tk 5 per kg.
The price for packaged sugar will increase to Tk 112 per kg, while the price for loose sugar will be at Tk 107 per kg.
Previously, the government set the cost of packaged and loose sugar at Tk 108 and Tk 102 per kg, respectively.
According to the Bangladesh Sugar Refiners Association, they made the choice after weighing the cost of production at nearby refining mills, the price of sugar on the global market, and the dollar’s value.
Before making a conclusion, the group stated in a press release today that it had also spoken with the commerce ministry and the Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission.
