Bangladesh continues to be one of South Asia’s most corrupt countries

Metropolis Report-

Bangladesh is still one of the most corrupt nations in South Asia, coming in at number 12 out of 180 on Transparency International’s Global Corruption Perception Index for 2022.

Bangladesh scored 25 out of 100 this year, down one point from 2021, which indicates that corruption grew over the previous year, according to Transparency International Bangladesh.

Scores for Bangladesh have mostly stagnated over the past ten years. Bangladesh also placed 147th in the 2021 CPI index, compared to 146th in the 2020 index.

Speaking about recent corruption in the banking industry and bringing up one of the private bank oddities, the executive director of TIB noted that while certain persons have been placed in watchdog organizations as putative saviors, they actually serve to encourage corruption.

According to the Corruption Perception Index 2022, Low-scoring nations are still unable to advance much. Despite numerous crises that put security and stability, democracy, and human rights at risk, restrictions and assaults on civic space and fundamental freedoms persist in many parts of the Americas, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
