In Bogura-4 by-election, independent candidate Ashraful Hossain Alam, also known as Hero Alam, fell short of defeating Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal candidate AKM Rezaul Karim Tansen by 834 votes.
Around 8:30 pm, the returning officer, Saiful Islam, confirmed the news, reports our correspondent.
Unofficial results show that Tansen received 20,405 votes, while Alam received 19,571. There are 3,28,469 voters in the Bogura-4 (Kahalu-Nandigram) constituency in total.
