BNP to begin union-level protest

Metropolis Report-

The BNP will begin a union-level anti-government campaign on February 11 to emphasize its ten-point demand, which includes a caretaker non-partisan government until elections.

At a rally held in front of the Naya Paltan party office on Saturday, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the program. The party also held similar political gatherings in divisional headquarters.

On Saturday in Dhaka, a number of anti-government political coalitions also took to the streets to make their intentions known.

“It was demonstrated in the elections again how helpless and isolated the government is as it had to resort to voting frauds to win even against Hero Alam,” said Fakhrul, referring to the low voter participation in the most recent by-elections in six constituencies.

“The cost of regular gas cylinders has jumped by a staggering Tk266 all at once, further pressuring the populace. By taking out debts from abroad, the government is harming the nation. While many people are trying to manage three meals a day, the Tk52,000 crore underground metro train project for Dhaka has been taken on,” the BNP leader stated.

This year’s textbook flaws, according to Fakhrul, are deliberate. “The content doesn’t fit with either our religion or our culture. This is a plot to subjugate the country to a neighboring state,” he added.
