Malaysian Home Affairs Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail expressed his keen interest to recruit security guards from Bangladesh.
He came up with the interest when he held a meeting with Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal at the state Guest House Padma in Dhaka on Sunday.
The two ministers discussed various issues, including strengthening of Bangladesh-Malaysia ties, Rohingya repatriation, recruitment of Bangladeshi workers and other issues of mutual interests, training, exchange of knowledge and information between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries.
Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal requested his counterpart to recruit professional and trained Ansars and retired members of the law enforcement agencies from Bangladesh to provide security to various offices in Malaysia.
Kamal mentioned that Malaysia was the first Southeast Asian country to recognize Bangladesh soon after the independence.
In the meeting, Bangladesh sought Malaysia’s cooperation to repatriate Rohingyas (Myanmar nationals), forcibly displaced from Myanmar, to their own country.
In response, the Malaysian minister said Rohingyas also took shelter in their country and Malaysia is providing humanitarian assistance to them.
“Malaysia’s cooperation will continue for repatriation of Rohingyas to their country Myanmar. Malaysia will play a strong role along with other international efforts including the United Nations,” he said.
Bangladesh Home Minister told his counterpart to arrange training programme on behalf of Malaysian law enforcement agencies to increase efficiency and capacity of Bangladeshi law enforcers.
Later, the two ministers also agreed on exchanging mutual knowledge and information between the law and order forces of the two countries.
Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Ministry Benazir Ahmed, Senior Secretary of Security Division Md Aminul Islam Khan, Secretary Security Services Division Md Abdullah Al Masud Chowdhury, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, DMP Commissioner and Director General of Passport and Immigration Directorate, High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Malaysia, Additional IGP Special Branch were present in the meeting.
The Malaysian home minister was in Dhaka on a two-day official visit.
Besides, a 15-member delegation attended by Malaysian Ambassador to Bangladesh Hasna Hashim and officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs joined the meeting.
