Nine Bangladeshi women cricketers were named for the upcoming auction of the inaugural women’s Indian Premier League. The tournament is scheduled to start on March 4.
Only 409 cricket players made the final shortlist out of the 1,525 who submitted their names for the auction. They include 163 foreigners and 246 Indian cricket players.
All-rounder Salma Khatun was picked in set two, while pacer Jahanara Alam was named in the pace-bowler category from set one.
Additionally included were Shorna Akter, Nigar Sultana, Rumana Ahmed, Nahida Akhter, Lota Mondol, Ritu Moni, and Sobhana Mostari.
In the top category, 24 cricketers will be given starting salaries of 50 lakh Indian rupees each.
There is a maximum of 18 players per squad for each team.
