A gang of muggers stabbed Assistant Commissioner (land) of Kalapara upazila in Patuakhali Md Abu Bakar Siddique in Savar.
The government official was later admitted to Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar.
Police said the incident took place on Monday night when the AC was returning by a bus to his training center in Savar after visiting his ailing mother in Dhaka.
The law enforcers were raiding different areas to arrest the criminals, they added.
