Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandkar Golam Farooq has called upon the city residents not to do any event, including fireworks, crackers, or lanterns, in the open on the thirty-first night to welcome the New Year 2023.
He said these things at the ‘Commissioners Meet the Press’ program on the occasion of the Thirty First Night celebration at DMP Media Center on Saturday (December 31) at 11:15 am.
Meanwhile, the DMP Commissioner requested that no vehicle should be driven at a reckless speed in the joy of the celebration of the Thirty First Night. For security, law and order enforcement members will keep a special vigil to ensure that no outside person or vehicle can enter the Dhaka University area after 6 pm.
The cars of teachers, officials, and employees living in the residential area of Dhaka University can enter through the Shahbagh crossing after the specified time, subject to the presentation of identification. They can also enter by walking through Neelkhet crossing subject to identification.
The DMP Commissioner also expressed hope that the Dhaka University authorities will play a special role in preventing its disruption.
He also said that no bar in Dhaka city could be kept open after 6 pm on December 31. Besides, there will be special restrictions on the movement of vehicles in the Hatirjheel area.
Urging everyone to be vigilant to avoid any untoward incident on the occasion of the Thirty First Night, the DMP Commissioner said that adequate police in uniform and plain clothes had been deployed across the capital on the occasion. Even SWAT, bomb disposal unit, and dog squad will be ready to avoid any mishap.
