Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been elected the President of Awami League for the tenth time.
Obaidul Quader will serve as the party’s Secretary General in the committee for the third consecutive term.
The election commission announced these two names for the post of President and Secretary General at the Saturday 22nd national conference of the Awami League.
The Awami League National Conference was inaugurated at Suhrawardy Udyan around 10:30 am.
Later, at around 3 pm in the capital, the council session for the new leadership election began at the Auditorium of Engineers Institution in Ramna.
Around seven thousand councilors from all over the country participated in this session.
The president and general secretary of the party are elected based on their opinions.
