The three-day visit of Santiago Andrés Cafiero, Argentina’s minister of foreign affairs, trade, and religion, began today in Dhaka. An Argentine foreign minister is in Bangladesh for the first time.
At about 8:00 am, he was welcomed by Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Today, Cafiero will inaugurate the Argentine Embassy in Dhaka, signaling a strengthening of ties between Argentina and Bangladesh.
Last year, while many Bangladeshis celebrated the triumph of the Argentina football team in the FIFA World Cup, he announced the opening of the embassy.
