The Appellate Division upheld the bail granted to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas in the case filed over Nayapaltan clashes.
As a result, there is no longer any obstacle to their release.
A four-member bench of the Appellate Division, led by Chief Justice Hasan Faiz Siddiqui, passed the order on Sunday morning (January 8).
Earlier on Wednesday morning, when the state applied to suspend the bail of Mirza Fakhrul and Abbas, in the afternoon, the Appellate Division Chamber Justice Jahangir Hossain Salim approved the application and fixed the day for hearing in the regular bench on Sunday.
The chamber judge ordered that the bail of Mirza Fakhrul and Abbas cannot be filed till then.
