Metropolis Desk-
For Indian traders in Tripura and other northeastern states, the Bangladesh government has designated four transshipment routes.
These routes include Mongla Port-Akhaura-Agartala, Chittagong Port-Akhaura-Agartala, Chittagong Port-Bibirbazar-Srimantapur, and Mongla Port-Bibirbazar-Srimantapur.
An agreement between India and Bangladesh permits Indian businessmen to ship products through the ports of Chittagong and Mongla in Bangladesh.
According to Santana Chakma, minister of industries and commerce for Tripura, these routes have good potential for cargo transshipment.
For localized bilateral trade, Tripura intends to establish nine “border haats,” with construction already starting on two more in Dharmanagar and Kamalpur.
