Bangladesh Recalls High Commissioner to India, Four Other Mission Chiefs to Dhaka

As part of a major reorganization in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the interim government is returning the high commissioners and ambassadors of five foreign missions to Dhaka.
The ministry instructed the diplomats to return to Dhaka “without delay” on Tuesday in separate orders.
We have called the heads of the following missions to the headquarters: M. Allama Siddiqui, the high commissioner to Australia; Mahbub Hassan Saleh, the ambassador to Belgium; Rezina Ahmed, the ambassador to Portugal; Mustafizur Rahman, the high commissioner to Delhi; and Muhammad Abdul Muhith, the permanent representative to the United Nations.
Separate orders have also led to the transfer of three other ministry officials.
The ministry has appointed Arifur Rahman as the assistant high commissioner in Manchester and deputy high commissioner in Mumbai. Kazi Ziaul Hasan has been named minister (local) in the Beijing embassy, and Mosammat Shahanara Monica is the deputy high commissioner to Kuala Lumpur in the permanent mission to the UN in New York.
Following the collapse of the Awami League government due to a student-led mass uprising, the administration underwent a transition that included the restructuring of the foreign missions.
High Commissioner Saida Muna Tasneem received an order earlier on Sunday to return from London to Dhaka.
A source in the foreign ministry claims that the five high commissioners and ambassadors ordered to return home on Tuesday will all start their post-retirement leave (PRL) in December.
The source stated that they were shocked and incensed by the way they were instructed to return home “without delay” just two months before their retirements, since they were scheduled to return to their homes in December anyhow.
