Metropolis Report-
To comply with the unified tariff preference framework, Dhaka and Moscow are working together to create an electronic system for checking country-of-origin certifications for commodities exported by Bangladesh to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU/EEU).
The mission representing Bangladesh received a draft protocol from the Russian Federation for discussion. The protocol uses an electronic mechanism to check certificates of origin, simplifying the process of giving Bangladeshi goods priority status.
Bangladesh is currently on the list of nations that use the system under EEU preferences, and some items made there are eligible for a 25 percent reduction in import duties.
The 2015-formed EEU has a GDP of more than $1.9 trillion and an integrated single market of 184 million people.
An FTA with the EAEU may increase exports and draw in capital from EEC nations, according to a feasibility study prepared by Bangladesh.
