Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmed said that Bangladesh is working on exploring the manpower market of Poland as the country is looking at a new labour market.
Imran Ahmed was speaking as the chief guest at reception marking the celebration of 50 years of diplomatic relations between Poland and Bangladesh and the 104th Independence Day of Poland at the Dhaka Sheraton Hotel on Friday.
He said that Romania, the southeastern European country, would recruit 40,000 Bangladeshis, who will work in the Halal meat processing units. Romania exports ‘Halal’ meat to other countries.
Having visited Padma Bridge on Friday morning, non-resident Polish Ambassador to Bangladesh Adam Burakowski said that Bangladesh’s economy posted a remarkable progress in recent years.
Adam Burakowski said that Bangladesh has successfully contained the impact of the corona virus during 2020-2022 period by vaccinating over 120 million population and keeping the engine of the national economy on the right track through taking different steps.
He also lauded the role of the present government under the prudent leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in uplifting the living standard of the people and the country’s economic status.
Bangladesh has maintained growth rates of 7.00—8.00 or more over the past 10-12 years, lifting per capita income to about $2600 dollars. The country achieved middle income status by 2021.
