At the US government’s parliamentary debate competition run by the White House, a Bangladeshi student broke all the records by becoming the best debater by winning 144 consecutive debates.
The global contest ‘Finding Global Future Leaders’ was virtually held from February 27 to March 14.
Shah Muhammad Rakib Hasan, 17, a student at Rangpur Police Lines School in the tenth grade, hails from the village of Ramroypur in the Parbatipur upazila of the Dinajpur district and resides in Rangpur with his parents.
Out of 534 participants from various countries, he emerged as the competition’s top debater. To select future leaders, the US government holds parliamentary debates annually in two categories: British Parliamentary and Asian Parliamentary.
The Netherlands came in second place behind Russia as the competition’s winner. The second runner-up was the United States. The White House website reports that Shah Muhammad Rakib Hasan of Bangladesh was the best debater, and Holland Lop Michigan of the Russian Federation was the best speaker throughout the tournament.
A footnote on the website stated that Louie Anderson held the previous record by winning 139 consecutive discussions. Rakib shattered all previous records and earned a place in the White House Record Book by winning 144 consecutive discussions.
