Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to launch its TV channel, “BCB TV,” after becoming dissatisfied with local TV stations’ lack of interest in airing the Bangladesh cricket team’s international trips.
The BCB president claimed that although Bangladeshi TV outlets frequently lack enthusiasm in airing matches involving the national teams, they frequently show matches from international leagues.
When AHM Mustafa Kamal was the board president, BCB had already decided to launch a TV channel. These ideas, however, were never carried out.
The directors also decided to increase the match fee for the ‘A’ team, approve convener committees in five regional cricket associations, buy land for cricket fields, and issue a call for expressions of interest for the construction of the Sheikh Hasina International Cricket Stadium in Purbachal during the meeting.
Previously, the monthly pay for women’s cricket players varied from Tk 25,000 to Tk 80,000. The wage has now increased from Tk 50,000 to Tk 100,000. 25 female cricket players are currently under contract with the BCB.
