Four independent candidates for mayor in the Barishal City Corporation (BCC) elections had their candidacy papers canceled. Six additional candidates, including the Awami League candidate, had their nominations examined and found to be valid.
Around 10:00 am today, Md. Humayun Kabir, the returning officer for the Barishal City Corporation election, announced the names of the legitimate and ineligible candidates.
The independent candidates whose nominations were deemed invalid, according to the Barishal regional election office, are Lutful Kabir, Syed Esahak Mohammad Abul Khair, Md Asaduzzaman, and Nesharuddin.
On the other hand, the nominations of Abul Khair Abdullah of the Awami League, Iqbal Hossain of the Jatiya Party, Syed Md Faizul Karim of the Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Mizanur Rahman Bachchu of the Zaker Party, and independent candidates Kamrul Ahsan and Ali Hossain were recognized as legitimate.
