There were 500 passengers on board when the Benapole-Mongla train service started this morning.

Benapole Railway Station Master Saidur Rahman stated that the train left Benapole at 10:00am.

The train will travel 138.64 kilometers to reach Mongla, passing through Jashore, Phultala, and Khulna.  On November 1 of last year, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina officially opened the railway connection between Khulna and Myanmar.

Additional information regarding the service schedule was given by Abdul Awal, the Railway Western Zone’s assistant chief operating superintendent. It is anticipated that the train, which departs Benapole at 10:00 am, will arrive in Mongla at 12:50 pm. At 1:00 pm, the return journey from Mongla will depart, arriving in Benapole about 4:30 pm.

With the exception of Tuesdays, train services on this line will run every day. The cost of each passenger for the Benapole-Mongla trip is Tk 85.

He said that the train will make stops at a number of stations, including Khulkati Bazar, Baga, Digraj, Rupdia, Singia, Chengutia, Nawapara, Bejerdanga, Aranghata, Mohammadnagar, Katakhali, Jhikargacha, Jessore Junction, and Rupdia.

The Daily Star was informed by Railway Western Zone General Manager Asim Kumar Talukder that hiring is still underway for the Benapole-Mongla route. Currently, the railway network’s minimum workforce, drawn from several regions, is managing operations.

The Benapole-Mongla railway, according to Mizanur Rahman, the former president of the Jashore Chamber of Commerce and Industries, will boost economic activity and assist local enterprises by providing better access to the Mongla port.
