As a bus struck a battery-operated auto-rickshaw in Bhola’s Daulatkhan neighborhood Friday morning, three persons, including two college students, died.
Rima Akter, 17, and Shima Begum, 17, both pupils of Halima Khatun Mohila Mohabiddalay, were named as the deceased, along with Abdul Kalam, 55.
When a bus struck the auto-rickshaw from the opposite way, the three passengers traveling toward Banglabazar died there and then, according to police.
The auto-rickshaw driver was seriously injured and sent to a nearby hospital.
Police said the two students were traveling to their institution to participate in a celebration of Bangabandhu’s birth anniversary. The bus driver was taken into custody.
