BNP MP Harunur Rashid’s seat has been declared vacant in a gazette. The gazette signed by Parliament Secretary KM Abdus Salam was published on Thursday.
Earlier on Thursday, around 11 am, Member of Parliament of Chapainawabganj-3 Constituency Harunur Rashid submitted his resignation letter to Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury at her office.
The by-election will be held in this vacant seat as part of the constitutional obligation.
Earlier, when the five seats of the BNP MPs fell vacant, the Election Commission announced their by-election schedule.
