Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, 54, is receiving treatment for six stab wounds following an early Thursday altercation with an intruder at his Mumbai residence, according to media reports.
Khan resides in Bandra, a western Mumbai suburb popular among film industry personalities, with his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor, and their two children, Jeh and Taimur.
He was admitted to a nearby hospital around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, with two of the six injuries described as more severe, according to the Hindustan Times, citing Niraj Uttamani, the hospital’s chief operating officer.
“One of the injuries is near his spine … The extent of the damage will only be clear after surgery,” the official stated.
Police reported that the attacker fled the scene, and an investigation is underway with teams searching for the suspect, media sources revealed.
Khan, the son of legendary cricketer and former Indian captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi and acclaimed actress Sharmila Tagore, is a major Bollywood figure. Over his career, he has appeared in more than 70 films and TV series, also taking on roles as a producer.
