At least three British guardsmen passed out in the sweltering heat on Saturday at Horse Guards display in the heart of London, where Prince William was inspecting a royal military display.
For the first time this year, the temperature in the UK reached 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit). 30.5°C was measured at Heathrow and 31.2°C was later recorded in Surrey.
The Colonel’s Review was headed by the Prince of Wales. On social media, he paid respect to soldiers. He thanked all of the soldiers who participated in the Colonel’s Review this morning despite the heat in a tweet. Despite the challenging circumstances, you all performed an excellent job. I’m grateful. W.”
