A bus crash in Bolivia on Monday claimed the lives of at least 31 people and left more than a dozen injured, local police reported.
According to a police officer speaking from the local hospital, the driver likely lost control of the vehicle, causing it to plunge nearly 800 meters (2,625 feet) down a precipice in the southwestern municipality of Yocalla.
Among those injured, 10 adults and four children were hospitalized, with several in intensive care, a hospital official stated in a video.
The police officer noted that the mountainous route is filled with sharp twists and turns, adding that the bus’ speed may have contributed to the accident.
