The Rab Director General Award has been given to a member of the Rab Dog Squad for the first time in recognition of his valiant efforts during the search and rescue operations following the Gulistan explosion earlier this month.
On March 7, an explosion devastated the Gulistan building, killing 24 people and injuring over 100 others. The dog Cheetah was instrumental in retrieving bodies from the scene.
Commander Khandaker Al Moin, head of Rab’s legal and communications branch, claimed that the dog removed three bodies from the scene. At a ceremony commemorating Rab’s 19th establishment anniversary and Rab Memorial Day-2023, the prize was presented.
