Kazi Habibul Awal, the chief election commissioner, stated on Tuesday that the commission invited the BNP for informal discussions rather than official meetings.
At a news conference for the media held at the capital’s EC Secretariat, Awal informed the media that the government was in no way related to the invitation extended to the BNP.
The CEC asserted that this was its own strategy and not the government’s.
When questioned about whether foreign pressure played a role in this, he responded, “There is no question of it.”
